White Dextrin

White dextrin is produced through the partial hydrolysis of starch, facilitated by a catalyst. This process chemically breaks down starch molecules into smaller constituents. Despite its name, white dextrin exhibits reduced viscosity and appears white in color. Its solubility in cold water ranges from 25% to 65%. When employed, it generates a lightly colored paste that solidifies into a soft yet distinctly gelled form. Varieties with higher solubility can be utilized in higher concentrations to yield very soft gels, resulting in a semi-transparent solution.

Yellow Dextrin

Yellow dextrin is crafted through the partial hydrolysis of starch using the dry roasting method alongside a catalyst. This process breaks down starch molecules into smaller constituents. Characterized by its low viscosity and high stickiness, yellow dextrin possesses significant hygroscopic properties.

It serves notably in foundries as a core binder, enhancing dry strength while maintaining complete solubility in water. This versatile product also functions effectively as a binder in mold and core washes.
